ABOUT MADELEINE
Madeleine Depelteau-Brownrigg was born in Sainte-Agathe des Monts, Quebec, and has always been a family-oriented person, also loving horses, nature and art. Painting, writing, and dancing are her favourite mediums. She didn’t start painting seriously until she had been through a life-changing car accident. She was 31 years old. Now Madeleine is inspired to give joy through her art, living life to the fullest, married since 1976, with a son and daughter and three grand-children.
She first picked up a paintbrush during a difficult time in her life. During this time, Madeleine wanted to see if she had what it took to be an artist, and painted three animals - a cow, a horse, and a duck. She was pleasantly surprised with how her paintings turned out and realized how good it felt to create. This led to Madeleine taking a drawing course at Algonquin College, where she gained experience in painting still life. She continued to learn to paint on canvas, and went on to study at the Ottawa School of Art.
Painting became Madeleine’s outlet to express her emotions. An introvert, energized by creating with a lot of energy to spare, painting keeps her grounded. Right now, Madeleine is focusing on painting what inspires her, drawing inspiration from facial expressions she finds particularly interesting. She is also accepting commissions from those who wish to have a piece of their own whimsical, expressionist art.
During 2021-2022, Madeleine with the support of family created Lightmyart.com, created an artist platform online for visual artists to create their profile, connect with other artists, sell their art and share their art on the world stage. The Trademark war registered with the design. It was a nice idea.
